Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Sankofa: Finance Heroes (the game), published by UNIMI STUDIOS LIMITED (we, us). By installing or playing the game you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the game.

1. Who may play

The game is for players aged 7 and over. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and is responsible for any purchase made on your account. Google Play's own age rules apply to sign-in and to purchases.

2. Your account

Playing needs no account. Signing in with Google Play Games is optional and lets your progress follow you to another phone. Your gamer name from Google Play is your username in the game, and it must be a name you may use. We may remove a username that is offensive, misleading or impersonates someone. You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in. You can delete your account and everything we hold at any time: see delete your account.

3. The game is a game

All money, assets, wages, taxes, prices, interest, returns and rich lists in the game are simulated. Nothing in the game is money, a security, a bank account or an offer to buy or sell anything. The game teaches ideas about money; it does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and the outcome of a decision in the game says nothing about the outcome of the same decision in life. Historical figures appear as characters; their words in the game are ours, not theirs.

4. Energy, gems and adverts

Some actions in the game use energy. Energy refills daily, and you may earn more by finishing lessons, by spending gems earned in the game, or by choosing to watch an advert. Gems and energy have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, and may be changed, rebalanced or removed as the game develops. Adverts are served by Google AdMob under our privacy policy.

5. The premium month

Unlimited energy is an optional subscription bought through Google Play Billing. It removes the energy limit for the period bought and changes nothing else about the game.

• Price. The price shown by Google Play in your country at the moment you buy is the price. It includes any tax Google Play adds.
• Renewal. The subscription renews monthly and Google Play charges your payment method at the start of each period until you cancel.
• Cancelling. Cancel any time in Google Play › Payments and subscriptions › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep unlimited energy until the end of the period already paid for.
• Refunds. Payments are taken by Google, not by us, and Google Play's refund policy applies. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
• Failed payments. If a renewal fails, Google Play keeps trying for a short grace period while you keep unlimited energy, then pauses the subscription until the payment method is fixed.

We do not sell any other product in the game and we never see your card details.

6. What you may not do

• Cheat, tamper with saves, exploit bugs to gain gems or energy, or interfere with the game's servers or other players.
• Copy, sell, rent, decompile or make derivative works of the game, its art, its heroes, its lessons or its sound, except as the law allows.
• Use the game to break any law or to harm anyone.

We may suspend or close an account, and remove any gems, energy or premium time, where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken.

7. Ownership

The game and everything in it, including the code, art, characters, lessons, music, names and marks, belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to play the game on devices you own, for as long as these terms are kept. Nothing else is transferred to you.

8. Availability and changes

We may update, change or stop the game or any part of it, including lessons, heroes, the energy system and the premium month, at any time. Where a change removes something you have paid for and not yet received, you may cancel through Google Play. We aim to keep the game and its servers running but do not promise that they will always be available or free of errors.

9. Our liability

The game is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the game, including any decision you make about real money after playing it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not let us limit, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

10. Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in the Sankofa privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The effective date at the top moves when we do, and a material change is announced in the game before it takes effect. Playing after a change means you accept it.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction, without taking away any protection the law of your own country gives you as a consumer.
